We feel that being bilingual has it's benefits and it's downfalls. Speaking more than one language helps your chances at getting a job. When an employer sees that you are bilingual, they are more inclined to choose you for the position, due to the fact that you are able to speak more than one language. It can also help you establish connections with others that you may not if you only speak one language. For example, if you are working at a job where one of the other employees or bosses only speak Spanish, you are able to communicate with them and build bonds with them that wouldn't be made if you only spoke English. One downfall of learning a second language is that immigrants from other countries learn English as their second language. If we taught students in America a second language, there would be so many options to choose from, that it would eliminate other languages that other bilingual people speak and would make them learn a third language to go along with the curriculum.
